When A Man Loves A Woman

It shows.

Taken by the legendary Henri Cartier Bresson, this photograph of Mountbatten, Nehru and Edwina - a personal favourite - has been all over of late. It has been pulled out to accompany reports on Pamela Mountbatten's (Mountbattens' daughter) just published book `India Remembered:A Personal Account of the Mountbattens During The Transfer of Power.'

Who cares whether Nehru and Edwina's love was platonic or otherwise. How does it really matter to anyone beyond these three people frozen in time. What matters is when you see a man wear just the expression Nehru's wearing - the jester, desperate to catch the woman's eye, trying to impress her, waiting for validation - you will know a man loves a woman.

The other thought that's just popped into my mind, if the papparazi would only get pictures that are so revealing....

Good to know that you are out of shivaji.

Nice to see a reasonable post from your end after what seems like ages! Keep going...

The photo doesn't say anything. Two people are laughing about something is all.
Anyway, pointless.

errr- prev anon ... this "controversy" is only like more than half century old! I think she's blogging it because her channel was showing some interview about a new book by some family member

this seems at best a paparazzi gossip...Extrapolation is a very difficult, from a very mathematical perspective...But you seem to found something that mathematicians have failed over the last 100 years...:-)

To me it just appears that Nehru is having a laugh with the lady...I don't think Nehru is that stupid to try to impress/flirt with a married woman when her husband is beside him...Agreed, Nehru might have something going on behind the scenes...

Good attempt to shaff us.. There are myriad burning issues in the world, but you people have to dwell on raking up cheap controversies to get publicity for yourselves.. Like you guys have spotless, chaste lives.

Wake up call - Journalism can be clean too.

historians would care,.. to judge his actions and its impact/consequences. ofcourse not to point figures but to learn.

what's interest is that-- nothing of this sort had ever be mentioned in previous book years:

Edwina Mountbatten: A Life of Her Own by Janet Morgan
I WAS NEHRU'S SHADOW — From the Diaries of K.F. Rustamji: P.V. Rajgopal

".. There are myriad burning issues in the world, but you people have to dwell on raking up cheap controversies.."

Its these cheap controversies that are at the root of burning issues. Its well known that the Mountbattens had an open marriage and the latest book documents how Mountbatten used Edwina's 'friendship' with Nehru to manipulate him on Kashmir

My friend, we have crooked politicians, raging poverty, border conflicts, demand for independent states, manipulation of economic policies for personal gain, corrupt defence seniors, bihar, and the number 2 position in AIDS in the world. And then we have politics in sports, paedophiles getting away scot free, 8 month old kids being charged by police for rioting.

Phew!! what a depressing list, and its just the synopsis. And youre saying that raking up an old affair between Nehru and Lady Mountbatten supersedes these issues. Get real buddy.. shes just done a cut and paste to divert the public attention from her previous faux pas.

I THINK THINGS ARE MURKY.THERE HAVE BEEN GOSSIPS HERE AND THERE ABOUT NEHRU,GANDHI BUT WHEN WE DIG MORE THIS COMES OUT AS LEWINSKY AFFAIR.
MOUNTBATTEN'S DAUGHTER HAS CLEARLY STATED THE ILLICIT RELATIONSHIP(FRIENDSHIP IS THE MISUSED WORD HERE..LOOKS LIKE SHE CALLED HIM MAMU) BETWEEN HER MOTHER AND NEHRU.AGREED IT'S HIS PERSONAL ISSUE BUT TO BRAND HIM AS A NATIONAL LEADER IS SOMETHING WHICH IS NOT GOOD.
NO WONDER HE LIKES CHILDREN AND HIS BIRTHDAY IS CELEBRATED AS CHILDREN'S DAY.WHO KNOWS WE WOULD HAVE TO DO A DNA TESTING TO ASCERTAIN WHETHER PAMELA WAS A SIBLING OF RAJIV GANDHI...
I EXPECT GANDHI,INDRA GANDHI ON LINE.

" THERE WAS A JOKE IN MY COLLEGE DAYS.EVERY GUY IN KASHMIR IS RELATED TO NEHRU"-looks like it is true. THANK GOD HIS WIFE DIED EARLY.

Anu, reading your comment made the moment so romantic so special so nice....but this guy is a PM, he is married, she is married, she is the wife of a very high posted official, he is flirting in front of her husband and you are saying "When a man loves it show"......hmm my diabolic mind is thinking what if the person shown in the photo be from below the vindhyas..would the blog become "how cheap is this man, he is flirting , he is outtrageous, does he have no morality" and would the heading of the blog change to "When a man lusts after a women it shows" ....ouch ouch are you saying im too cynical ...maybe I am, but after reading the blog by Sanjeeb Mucousjhea I guess all you bongs have a superiority complex which has no justification..touche touche

Sanjeev Mucousjhea... LOL thats a good name for that mother fucker.. keep it up anonymous!!

THIS IS THE OFFICIAL ANURADHA SENGUPTA hate club! Anybody who hates her can join this club.

Anuradha Sengupta is a journalist in CNN IBN. Nobody took notice of her. Nobody even cared whether she existed or not.

It was from the moment she started to TRASH-TALK about our “THALAIVAR” SUPERSTAR RAJNI and his latest movie SIVAJI in her blog, she became the one-stop spit-stop for all DIEHARD RAJNI FANS. This was her road to become famous.

If you still haven’t checked her article about Sivaji, plz chk it out.
1. This one started it all, the moment it was uploaded, in a matter of hours 4000+ thrashing comments landed in the website ibnlive.com
http://www.ibnlive.com/blogs/anuradhasengupta/164/2061/sivaji-the-boss-of-crap.html
She became scared to death after seeing the responses.

2. She made things worse, by commenting on the fans now. Again she was thrashed with terrible comments.
http://www.ibnlive.com/blogs/anuradhasengupta/164/2079/thank-you-sivaji.html

3. Later she was forced to apologise publicly in her own blog.
http://www.ibnlive.com/blogs/anuradhasengupta/164/2134/life-after-sivaji.html

RAJNI IMPACT!
She stopped writing in IBNLIVE, and opened her own blog in blogspot.
http://senguptaspeak.blogspot.com/

She also roped in her colleague Sanjeeb Mukherjea for her support, who failed miserably.
http://www.ibnlive.com/blogs/sanjeebmukherjea/262/2126/rajini-the-blogbuster.html

FINAL VERDICT:
ANURADHA SENGUPTA SUX AND SUX BIG TIME!

u ought to be here in the US to do tabloid journalism...as a journalist..i would commit suicide after hearing this.. i guess u are better off writing stories abt what 'chaddi' paris is wearing and if she is wearing at all...

oh! btw, neeyum chaddi pottuko....with all these trash talks in comment section and people calling u names, mam,u have been blog-raped....

Anonymous said...

sengupta,

am sorry to say u have lost all credibility as a journalist... i feel sorry for IBN..people like u create a bad reputation for them

Anonymous said...

why dont u have so many comments now!! mm really confusing ;-) how abt putting a bad review on next tamil movie titled Kreedom and am sure you would then have a hell lot of comments pouring in!

Anonymous said...

It is hard to say what went on between them! Perhaps affection, perhaps friendship or may be even love! It's hard to say!

But what is interesting is that even after so many years, we are still interested in them! Why? If they were alive today, would they be surrounded by paparazzi?

So, if our curiosity about other people's lives is feeding the paparazzis, then we should question our curiosity? Why do we care soooooo much about other people's lives? Why not spend that time on something useful and/or someone special!

Anonymous said...

Ha ha ! BTW Anuradha, I guess the popularity of your blog has peaked out and you missed an opportunity for an alternate career!shucks!

Well said my friend chinnapa ,

The number of replies to her post , now shows the real status of anuradha sengupta San cnn-ibn.

She would be flying in air , That she is so popular and in demand , that she received some 1700 replies for her single post.

It would have boosted her already superficially high egos. But now after seeing such a Luke warm response to her post , Her ego’s would come crashing down as now she might be knowing that the response was for a editor of cnn-ibn and not for her.

She is nothing San cnn-ibn.

No body cares the damn about her or her posts.

I am so surprised at the talents of journalist to blowup things out of proportion and make stories out of a plain photograph or a movie!!!

People! grow up! there are lots of other issues, which need to be taken care of in India! I don't know why you guys are wasting time in making philosophies out of movies, which are meant for entertainment and others personal life! ignorance may be bliss..but it is painful to see it in journalism!

I don't know from which school of journalism you graduated from.
You have no idea of what to write. You write just to gather attention and popularity.
You used famous personalities and tarnish their image, so that you gain attention.
Your world is something where everyone reads your article and are mesmirized, which rarely happens. Cause you writing simply sucks.

At the SA Box Office this weekend
by Ailsa Windsor

Sivaji (The Boss) (Showing at , The Zone – Rosebank; Cavendish Square – Cape Town; Gateway and Suncoast Casino)
Starring: Rajinikanth, Shriya Saran, Vivek, Prakashraj, Manivannan

it has been a while since Ster Kinekor has screened movies which have emerged from the South of India – this is about to change!

Sivaji (The Boss) is a perfect example of East meeting West – it has all the usual eastern ingredients of song, dance, love, drama

and more while parodying some of the more popular western films – a cause of much mirth.

With elements taken from ‘Desperado’ , ‘The Matrix’ and ‘Kung Fu Hustle’ among others Sivaji takes the audience on a hilarious journey with a man who has been educated in America and has high hopes of establishing a university in his home town. However, when it is established that he wants to provide free education to the masses he meets with much opposition.

This Tamil film with English sub-titles shows how Sivaji (Rajinikanth) has to bribe his way to the top eventually emerging as a ‘mafia-type’ boss complete with parody. Keeping on the lighter side is the way he inveigles his way into Tamilselvi’s heart (Shriya).

Well worth watching (AW)

these tamail gandu-s are not indians. just hear the biggest bastard of the all -- karunanidhi .. god knows what he says when he opens his mouth.

few days ago i learnt that these tamil bastards have no aspirated consonants -- parad, parath, barad, barath, all are same!! in fact, they cannot even pronounce "Bharat" properly. they always put the "H"s at the wrong places!! ha ha ha. goddammm!!!

tamil bastards always move in herds. say something against one tamil, thousands of other tamils will be up in arms. these bastards always manage to occupy powerful positions at the center. they did NOTHING for India's independence. cunning people!
